In Keyser, WV May 5, 2012, protests started at the City Hall in support of Former Keyser Police Officer Ernie Miller.
With their signs held high, the protesters received many cars sounding their horns, and one person who voiced their opposition.
Signs read “Honk 4 Miller,” “We Support Miller,” “Justice 4 Ernie,” among others.
At City Hall, 111 North Davis Street, protesters chanted “Miller for Chief.”
One driver passing by questioned what the protest was about. The protesters replied “to reinstate Ernie Miller.”
“[...] Fuck Ernie Miller,” said the driver.
The protesters eventually moved to the corner of 1 Piedmont St. and South Mineral.
“A good man has been wronged, and we need to correct that injustice,” said Chad Haywood.
Collecting more people, protesters shared their signs and drew one more.
When questioning Mark Tranum about the protest’s future agenda he replied, “One of many things that are in the works to undo the wrong-doings of the current administration.”
“[Mayor] Amtower [Police Commissioner] could have stopped this, but didn’t,” said Tranum.
“I want to thank the community for helping Officer Miller,” said Beth Stevenson.
“He’s still an officer to us,” said the protesters.
“We need to hold elected officials accountable, from the top down,” said Ralph Broadwater.
Protesters say they will be back to City Hall, Sunday at 12:00PM.
