Keyser, Water and Sewer Rates to Increase, Despite Complaints

Keyser’s (West Virginia) residents will soon be faced with one more increasing bill. Despite multiple complaints from landlords, buyers and residents Keyser still moves forward with the new plan.

Citizens stress that many will not be able to afford the costs. A landlord made complaints at the plan’s commenting session (at the May 23 Council meeting) saying that they will have to eventually offload the costs to their tenants.

There is currently a petition being passed around in opposition to the water and sewer rate increases.

Some city employees state that they do not agree with the rates, however a new plant among various other things within the city are needed. A few citizens voiced the same concerns.

The Mayor indicated that the plan is better than the Federal government coming in to take over, thus not having a possibility of higher rates.
