PTS: Google to Pay Nothing, Facebook’s Sponsored Stories

Google in defense of Oracle will have to pay zero dollars. Oracle of course may appeal the decision. This comes in from the recent ruling that Google did not infringe upon Oracle’s copyrights by “Java APIs,” and thus, was let free … sort-of. Google’s previous offer of settlement, was rejected by Oracle and damages sought out by Oracle were lowered to roughly $150 million from the initial $6 billion.

While all the sparks may be between Google and Oracle at the moment, Facebook was targeted for “Sponsored Stories” and quickly settled for $10 million, reported by Associated Press (according to The Washington Post). for “sponsored” stories. Typically these links would appear in the Facebook user’s “update stream,” only with your contacts’ names tagged in some cases. There’s now an option to make it “stop.”
